racingENZO’S GHOST RETURNS BUT TEAM MCLAREN IS ON FIRE

Pros:

  • With everyone’s sites set on Yutaka, a blast from the past returns to take the TQ.  Reggie Barnes has thrown his hat into the ring and will be starting out with style.  His team is still a mystery but Barnes has always favored the power of Ferrari.
  • McLaren won’t be outdone with Yutaka, Hester, Stephenson and Romack putting in respectable times and filling out the rest of the grid
  • Schaub’s Ford is a diamond in the rough.  “We know he’s fast.  He has some good laps and his consitency will only improve as the season moves on.”  Said last year’s rival Yutaka.
  • Just as everyone was looking for Yutaka and Barnes to slug it out for first, the perenial favorite Gary Stephenson led the A Main from the word go.  With a clear track ahead of him for most of the race he continues to hold on to the track record for fastest lap.
  • Team Ferrari showed well in the B Main bumping Santamarina up to the A Main for some extra points.  “It has been tough.  Everyone has gotten better in the off season, and the championship is really up for grabs.  I am pleased to see my team’s strong performance in the Pro ranks this year.”  Said 5 time champion Santamarina

Rookies:

  • Arndt’s throttle issues gave him a formible TQ pace this week but Mahone tops him in the second qualifier and puts the field behind him as he walked away with the A Main win.
  • Hardy gets the car out of the pits and barely makes the green flag for the 1st heat.
  • Paolini is still driving hard but appeared to be having some handling issues related to a rear drive axle acting up.
  • Dimeler, Grenier, and Adams are showing well but can they find enough consistency to contend with the speed of Arndt and Mahone?
  • Grenier’s Mustang was smooth in the B Main putting her on the A Main starting grid.  Good job!
  • The rookies put on a better show then the Pros.  The heats were close, just look at the data.

Week 2 (11 / 3 / 2006)
