SANTAMARINA IS BACK!!!!11/10/06 Hester tried to block Santamarina to give teammate Yutaka more room but the Cuban quickly passed his nemesis and overtook Yutaka with only three laps to go to win this week’s Pro A Main. When questioned about his driving Hester responded. “Yutaka is our team leader and Gary and I will do whatever it takes to keep him in the lead. I won’t risk safety or the car, but Aland and I have always played a great game of cat and mouse.”
This week finishes with Yutaka holding on to the lead with Santamarina chomping at his heals, and McLaren clearly setting a standard for the manufacturer’s cup. With Mahone taking the Siemens F1 contract and leaving the series, Arndt was catapulted into the championship lead. “Don’t let his quiet demeanor fool you; the man is an animal on the track.” Tom Dresser said as he watched this week’s race from the skybox while nursing an injured thumb. The Mustang of Grenier was battling with both Paolini and Dimeler throughout the race and managed to pull off a solid 3rd place in the Rookie A Main, her best performance yet. Arndt has a comfortable lead but Dresser and Grenier are both drivers to watch as their form continues to improve and lap times get faster they are bound to pull off a win before the end of the season. So the micro mob say goodbye to Spiral Curve and head over to the historical Blenheim Field where Churchill himself learned to drive from his great uncle Donald Rums. Qualifying was postponed today because of a political demonstration. Protestors on the recent healthcare legislation flooded the pit area forcing drivers and teams to evacuate. “I was scared. I felt that my life was threatened when the mob overtook my pit.” Said Santamarina. With the recent elections came referendums on healthcare that made the natives restless. “I heard the rumor that there would be a protest, but I thought it would be in the city not out here.” Romack said after commented on the recent election outcome. SO WHAT IS REALLY IMPORTANT: Starting grids will be based on current point standings and pole position points will be awarded to the driver with the fastest lap.
In an interesting turn of events the Rookie leader Dustin Mahone has signed with Siemens to drive for their new Formula 1 team. “I’m not one to change horses’ mid-stream, but I don’t blame him for leaving. You just can’t pass up a deal like that.” Said 3rd ranked Rookie Tom Dresser. “He was clearly the next one to come up to the Pros. His talent was obvious once I saw him on the track.” Commented 5-time champion Santamarina. This blows the Rookie class wide open. Paolini is the clear favorite but Dresser, Arndt and Grenier are coming on strong and there is still plenty of season left. |
